Dutch oboist Marleen Schuuring studied oboe at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She completed the 1-year preparatory course with world-renowned oboist Han de Vries and the 4-year main course and 2-year master's follow-up course with Jan Spronk, the former solo oboist of the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest.
During her studies, Marleen was already asked to substitute with various professional orchestras, including the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest. She performed there with, among others, the farewell concert of chief conductor Riccardo Chailly.
Marleen has also substituted with/continues to substitute with Het Phion, PhilZuid, the Noord Nederlands Orkest, Orchestra di Teatro de San Carlo in Naples, Symfonieorchester Aachen, the Radio Philharmonish Orkest, the Radio Kamerorkest and Combattimento Consort Amsterdam.
Marleen also performs in the MAESTRO orchestra of the famous television program MAESTRO. In the eighth season, she was able to play the beautiful cor anglais part in Schindler's List under the direction of Jamai Loman, which became a video that went all over the world. She also regularly appears on television, among other things on New Year's Eve, with the broadcasts of Het Muziekfeest van het Jaar in which she performs with the Marcel Fisser band & orchestra conducted by Marcel Fisser. In this program, which is recorded each year at the Ziggo Dome, they accompany Dutch singers at Het Muziekfeest van het Jaar.
Marleen is also one of the permanent musicians of opera Nijetrijne, which is now called operanijetrijneopreis. These performances can be seen in various locations in the Netherlands.
Marleen has also participated in various music theater productions such as The Secret Garden and Robin Hood with Theater Sonnevanck and Orkest Phion as well as a production about Annie MG Schmid with actor Erik van Muiswinkel and singers Nol Havens and Stefanie Struik.

In 2005, Marleen won the Burgemeester de Bruinprijs for her musical talent. Marleen regularly performs as a soloist with various orchestras performing, among others, the oboe concertos by Hummel, Marcello, Vivaldi, Rimsky-Korsakov, Cimarosa and the oboe d'amore concerto by J.S. Bach.
Together with pianist Johann de Jong and bassoonist Kaspar Snikkers, Marleen formed the Francaix Trio for many years, with which they won second prize in 2005 at the Chamber Music Festival of the Uitmarkt Amsterdam. After that, she founded the trio No Strings Attached together with bassoonist James Aylward and flutist Elodia Climent.
